Reputation
Our reputation for excellent quality, service and value to our community reaches nationwide. Our focus on excellence is evident throughout the organization. Year after year, ChristianaCare receives awards related to clinical excellence and our performance in non-clinical areas.
ChristianaCare is repeatedly rated as a Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report and recognized as one of “America’s 100 Best Hospitals” by Healthgrades. We’re a twice-designated Magnet® organization* for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Since 2015, we’ve earned the “Most Wired” designation from CHIME and the Newark and Wilmington campuses have both been designated a Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare, receiving a perfect score on the national Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.
Why Do We Exceed Expectations? For the Love of Health.
Innovation
Through transformational technologies, ChristianaCare caregivers can break down barriers to access and coordinate high-value care. In 2017, ChristianaCare established the Health & Technology Innovation Center at Wilmington Hospital to bring together IT experts with caregivers and the community to create innovative solutions that connect people with their health and well-being through data and technology.
ChristianaCare earned the Most Wired designation from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives for three straight years (2017, 2018 and 2019). Under the leadership of Randall Gaboriault, Chief Digital and Information Officer, ChristianaCare won a federal, multimillion-dollar Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Innovation Award.

Collaboration
Collaboration is key to your success as a physician. We know, and the research supports this, that highly collaborative teams have better patient outcomes. Through our values of Love and Excellence and the commitments made in the Medical Group Compact, we create a collaborative and supportive culture for our physicians and clinical teams, enabling them to deliver on the ChristianaCare Way. Physicians can count on their practice clinical and non-clinical colleagues, as well as their physician colleagues, throughout the Medical Group, to partner with them and provide timely support and advice.
Why Do We Create a Culture That Fosters Collaboration? For the Love of Health!
Physician-Led
There are distinct benefits to having a physician CEO and robust clinician leadership team. Since 1996, ChristianaCare has had physician CEOs, including current President and CEO Janice E. Nevin, M.D., M.P.H. Dr. Nevin is nationally recognized for innovation in population health and her transformative vision for a health care system built on the values of Love and Excellence. In June 2020, Dr. Nevin was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the year’s “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives.”
At ChristianaCare, you’ll find physicians in leadership roles from the C-Suite to medical practices, as well as in clinical informatics, quality, medical education, research, caregiver wellness and population health. Physician input is valued and expected. Decision making is through a clinical lens and this perspective drives how we prioritize quality, safety and respect for the patient and caregivers. We also know physicians have diversified interests, and we do our best to support unique clinical and professional interests.
