We are seeking a full-time Access Coordinator to collaborate with physician/office to ensure a seamless delivery of services by facilitating the pre-authorization process for high end imaging procedures in PET/CT. Promotes physician and patient satisfaction by minimizing their involvement with 3rd party insurance providers for pre-authorizations. Provides education to the physician office on Imaging CPT coding. Ensures ICD10 coding on orders meets medical necessity for exams. Pre-registers patient demographic information into billing computer system.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains pre-authorizations, in collaboration with the referring physician office, for high end imaging studies in PET/CT.
Communicates patient demographic and clinical information to UM (Utilization Management) companies (MedSolutions, AIM, NIA, and Evicore) and/or 3rd party insurance providers, for referral and pre-certification requirements.
Performs daily operational duties such as scheduling, registration, pre-registration, verification, and authorization for imaging procedures utilizing the RIS and HIS computer systems.
Maintains a solid working knowledge of insurance and billing requirements related to imaging procedures for maximum reimbursement of claims and to minimize financial risks.
Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients), including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Knowledge of CTP and ICD10 coding and 3rd party billing practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Two years' experience in a medical, financial, or marketing field, required.
Directly related work experience may be substituted for educational requirements as determined by Non-Invasive Services Management. Associates degree in Business/Medical related field preferred.
