Christiana Care Health Systems seeks an Access Coordinator. The role of the Access Coordinator is to promote patient and physician satisfaction through proactive patient access activities. Collaborates with physicians, patients and interdepartmental staff to ensure a seamless delivery of patient care and appropriate fiscal management of the encounter. Primary contact and interactions to include: Departmental and hospital staff, physicians/office staff, patients/family, insurance companies, Patient Financial Services and Information Services. This position will be assigned to Main Admitting in Christiana Hospital.

The Access Coordinator will be primarily responsible for promoting patient satisfaction through proactive administrative services. Some of these services include:

Collaborating with physicians/office to ensure a seamless delivery of patient access activities.

Facilitating the authorization/notification process to minimize direct involvement with physicians/office staff.

Provide consistent education to physicians/office staff regarding changes in third party billing, customer service, answering phones.

Demonstrate strong customer service skills.

Appropriately process and ensure the fiscal integrity of accounts.

Work independently to set priorities and meet deadlines.

Function as a team member, i.e. promote positive interactions, demonstrate initiative and lead coworkers as well as take direction from coworkers.

Routinely demonstrate and promote Unsurpassed Excellence skills and CCHS Core Values.

Appropriately bring irregular situations to the attention of management.


  • Associate degree in Business/Medical related field preferred.
  • Two years' experience in a medical, financial or marketing institution preferred.
  • Previous insurance or third party experience is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple software/websites simultaneously.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Hours: This position is a full time day shift position for 80 hours per pay period. Hours are 11 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.  This requires every 3rd weekend and every third holiday.

Other: This position requires attendance of our Global Training class that is 2 weeks in duration and is 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. The training will be held at our Avenue North facility in Wilmington, Delaware.
