ChristianaCare is hiring a full-time Access Coordinator for their Multidisciplinary Center (MDC) at the Helen F. Graham Center in Newark, DE.

As an Access Coordinator, you will be one of a team of four and the first point of contact for a new patient. You will be responsible for interacting with the public while multitasking. Additionally, you will handle scheduling, checking patients in and out, insurance verification and providing back-up support to the Oncology Express Unit (OEU) as well as other units, as needed.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

  • No weekends or Holidays

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively and efficiently with referring physician offices and hospital providers to coordinate patient care.

  • Control the workflow related to the demand for new patients by communicating with physicians and handle all urgent/emergent requests.

  • Insurance verification (level of coverage to support oncology services and out of pocket expenses)

  • Provide new patients with all information needed prior to the scheduled appointment date.  Including the access to Navigating Care and making certain all new patient forms are received and completed prior to the visit.

  • Communicate with patients if additional studies or biopsies are required per the direction of the provider.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality

  • Performs daily operational duties such as scheduling, registration, pre-registration, verification, and authorization for treatments utilizing the Soarian systems, Rev Cycle, and Powerchart.

  • Documents all case information.

  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent

  • 2 years' experience in a medical office practice setting is required; 3 years' experience is preferred.

  • Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

  • Previous scheduling and oncology experience is preferred.
