The Associate Automation Engineer is responsible for defining, implementing and leading automation strategies and utilizing techniques to manage and optimize computer systems, resources and processes supporting Christiana Care Health System IS infrastructure. In addition, the Associate Automation Engineer is a resource to Systems Development and Technical support to advise and consult on various automation opportunities.



  • Performs the efforts of the Automation team. Participates in all project endeavors including the implementation and ongoing support of assigned enterprise automation tasks.

  • Generates and implements ideas, techniques, interfaces, processes, etc., in order to continually build and engineer additional opportunities for the automation of computer system operations and resources.

  • Tests, maintains, and supports software which is used for the automated management of computer system operations.  

  • Ensures new releases and updates are thoroughly tested before production implementation, and keeps accurate system documentation.

  • Monitors system performance and capacities, making recommendations towards optimizing system productivity.

  • Investigates problems, malfunctions, and errors using all available expertise and assistance to determine corrective measures in a timely.

  • Provides basic technical assistance, support, and turnover training to maintain operational readiness.

  • Continues to learn and apply the internal workings of computer systems to the automation tools to effectively manage system resources, operations and processes across multiple platforms.

  • Identifies and pursues opportunities for the continuing professional development of self to enable increased understanding of the various Christiana Care functions and how new information technology can be applied at Christiana Care.

  • Interacts with team members and executives/management in a friendly, supportive and timely manner.

  • Assists the project manager/manager in other duties as assigned.

  • Keeps abreast of current technologies and facilities (ie. Languages, products, aids) as they become available.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science or Business Administration or experience consistent with the Automation Engineer job responsibilities.

  • 1 year experience in supporting Automation products across multiple computing platforms.       

  • 1 - 2 years experience in Information Services.                               

  • Demonstrated computer operations experience.
