ChristianaCare is seeking an Associate Director of Nutrition Services to plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate all activities related to Retail Operations, Patient Services and Kitchen Operations.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

Directs Retail, Patient Services and Kitchen Operations with regard to attainment of standards, quality of services, cost containment, and accountability.

Establishes policies and procedures for retail, patient services and kitchen operations.

Implements best practice standards for the provision meal service preparation and service to patients and retail customers.

Develops, implements, and supervises standards for respective section through evaluation of employee performance, expenditures, revenue, staff hours, and efficient scheduling.

Maintains fiscal responsibility for section and makes recommendations for annual budget expenditures.

Establishes key measures to assess and evaluate quality and safety of care and services provided. Identifies, develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates key performance improvement initiatives.

Responsible for human resource functions including hiring, promotions, terminations and discipliary actions using Culture of Responsibility principles.

Integrates nutrition principles into food service operations with regard to menu planning and product specifications.

Plans and presents inservice training for department.

Actively represents the Department of Food and Nutrition Services on committees as assigned and meets with nurse managers on a routine basis.

Prepares reports and annual appraisals as needed for presentation to departmental, medical and administrative staff.

Maintains compliance with State Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and other relevant regulatory agency standards.

Maintains professional registration. Keeps abreast of new developments in the clinical nutrition and food service field.

Demonstrates compliance with CCHS and departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance, and dress code.

Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Demonstrates leadership skills including: problem solving, delegation, decision making, training and promotion of employee morale and motivation. Serves as a positive role model.

Performs other related duties as required.


  • Master's Degree nutrition, business, or related field
  • Five years of managerial experience in health care facility.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
