The Biospecimen Research Manager ensures that all operations related to the collection, processing and annotation of research bio-specimens are completed according to CC Standard Operating Procedures; General Laboratory Standards, NCI/Federal standards and industry best practices; ensures collection of bio-specimens from diverse sources to support collaborating clinical, scientific and  academic investigators and direct supervision of employees assigned responsibilities for biobank operations. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Medical Director of the Tissue Procurement Center and will report directly to the Director of the CCTR and the Program Manager of Translational Cancer Research.

  • Collaborates with the Medical Director of the Cancer Center and Director of the CCTCR in the evaluation of programmatic direction and needed infrastructure to support procurement of biospecimens needed to support translational research and ensuring strategic alignment with CC goals and associated quality assurance monitoring to evaluate these goals.
  • Manages all aspects of day to day bio-banking operations to include screening, recruitment, consenting, collection, processing and shipment following all required state and federal guidelines.
  • Enforces all policies and procedures in compliance with CC Standard Operation Procedures, Best Practice Guidelines, NCI/Federal standards and CLIA and CAP if required.
  • Oversees sample data entry, accessioning of samples, labeling samples, and assigning storage locations to samples and tracking clinical trial samples from sample receipt to result reporting to investigator sites and/or external collaborators (and sample return, if applicable)

Requirements:  Associate degree in Histology, Medical Technology or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.  Three years of experience working in histology and tissue banking required.  At least one year of management experience required.
