PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As the Business Analyst for Nursing, you will provide business and financial analytical support to the Department of Nursing.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Gather and analyze data to improve operations and processes within the department of nursing.

  • Analyze and interpret financial and operational data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities.

  • Track budget performance and assist with variance analysis.

  • Design and distribute ad-hoc reports as needed.

  • Maintain and develop knowledge of Nursing operations and of related data.

  • Communicate analytic insights and make recommendations to Nursing leadership.

  • Work closely with Nurse Managers to understand and support analytical needs.

  • Present and explain data to different stakeholders.

  • Act as a liaison between Nursing and other departments such as Finance, Purchasing, IT, and HR as needed.

  • Create and update dashboards as needed.

  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices;  reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance/Healthcare Administration or related field required.

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office required, with a strong command of MS Excel.

  • Strong analytical skills, including manipulating and summarizing large data sets.

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting principles.

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to interpret data and make recommendations.

  • Ability to design, create, and maintain new reports.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Experience with building and maintaining Tableau dashboards preferred.
