Primary Function:

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Business Manager Admitting.  Admitting Services plays a critical role in patient account management through conversations with the patient and the use of Soarian Financials. The goal of the department is to assist in ensuring the fiscal integrity of Christiana Care Health System at the account level, while delivering exceptional customer service. The Admitting Department collects vital patient demographic and insurance information. The Admitting Business Manager for the Admitting Team is accountable for ensuring this information is obtained and acted upon in a timely manner to ensure proper insurance verification, eligibility, & notification/pre-authorization. We strive to ensure the patient does not incur any undue expenses that should be covered by their insurance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides management of Access Coordinators in registering all admitted patients by obtaining necessary demographics and completing insurance verification.
  • Ensures proper insurance notification and precertification requirements for emergent admissions.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements related to patient registration by collaborating with insurance payers on a frequent basis.
  • Implements various strategic initiatives within the Admitting Department, measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of on-going procedures and coordinating procedural changes.
  • Provides clear channels of communication, delegation and accountability within the Admitting Department for effective supervision, problem solving and ongoing enhancement of the admission/registration process.
  • Monitors/reviews employee productivity reports and makes changes as needed to ensure optimal use resources/workflows.
  • Collects statistical data and prepares reports as needed regarding department activities.
  • Assists in developing, updating and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources to fill vacant positions in a timely manner.
  • Interviews, recruits, develops and retains qualified team members.
  • Performs employee performance evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and makes recommendations concerning raises, promotions and terminations.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nursing, or related field.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience. Familiarity with Soarian Financials is a plus.
  • Knowledge of admissions principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of departmental admissions policy and procedures.
