ChristianaCare is currently seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife for a full time Midwife Laborist position at ChristianaCare. The Midwife Laborist will work closely with the on-site OB/GYN physicians and ancillary staff to provide care for pregnant patients in our modern Labor and Delivery Unit with the most up-to-date obstetrical and fetal monitoring technology.

The Midwife Laborist will provide direct management and acute healthcare to women in labor, during delivery and post-delivery under the appropriate medical supervision and planning care within established protocols, guidelines, and procedures. 

Within the scope of their education, training and credentialing, the Midlife Laborist provides full-scope care of obstetrical patients in the inpatient setting including

    • Monitoring the medical condition of the mother and baby throughout labor and delivery
    • Maintaining contact with supervising obstetrician as appropriate
    • Maintaining full and accurate medical record of patient's delivery
    • Instructing L&D nurses as they assist with the delivery process
    • Managing medical care to mother post-delivery
    • Taking appropriate action when medical complications arise including alerting supervising obstetrician

Requirements:

  • Certified Nurse Midwife degree
  • License or license eligible as a Midwife in the State of Delaware
  • Minimum of two years of related experience required
