To perform patient registration and scheduling in a busy imaging department and/or outpatient office, including obtaining financial and clinical information, insurance data and authorizations.


  • Register and schedule patients efficiently and accurately.
  • Obtains identity, insurance and/or workers compensation information
  • Answer and route calls in a high imaging department and/or office
  • Checks and obtains approval for patient safety related items, i.e.- MRI Safety, Pregnancy, etc
  • Requests and obtains medical records in preparation for patient's arrival
  • Obtains and uploads outside studies for comparison for radiologist.
  • Burn CDs, prints patients' medical imaging records
  • Connect and resolve outside images sent to the PACS system for providers
  • Mail and/or fax reports to physician offices
  • Documents communication of critical results when necessary
  • Responds to requests for urgent or emergency cases working with site leaders and/or senior technologists.
  • Operates computer systems and office equipment in a safe manner.
  • Interacts for solution of “routine problems” as they may occur to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Interacts with patient, family members, physicians, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Frequent contact with staff, patients, physicians, family members, and third-party insurance to obtain patient information, provide information to client companies, and respond to inquiries concerning patient reports.




Administrative Director, Operations Manager, Clerical Supervisor and Senior Technologist/Site Leader.


  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years related medical office experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.


  • Knowledge of hospital and/or office radiology, clerical and billing procedures/functions including related equipment use and operation.
  • Knowledge of computer scheduling for multiple providers.
  • Knowledge of clerical methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of office equipment and machines.
  • Knowledge of criteria for safe scheduling parameters (MRI Hazards) when needed.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and handle various tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to function independently, set work schedule and short-term goals to maximize productivity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain superior quality customer relations with patients, patients families, Christiana Care staff, visitors, insurance companies, physicians, and the general public.


Sitting with intermittent standing and walking. Occasional bending and reaching. Intermittent light lifting and carrying.


Busy office environment.

Occasional prolonged sitting and long stretches of time on the phone.
