ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Clinical Practice Coordinator position at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center in Newark, DE.

This person will provide excellent nursing care and assume responsibility and accountability for patients during their office visit. They also serve to assist the Practice Manager in the daily operations of the office and to provide clinical support and direction to the professional and non-professional support staff.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

No weekends or holidays

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed.
  • Assesses patient/family's learning needs and carries out teaching measures.
  • Interacts with patients between visits regarding testing results, medications, home care, and problems.
  • Collaborates with team members to provide a smooth, organized and efficient flow of patients.
  • Administers medications safely.
  • Responds to patient crisis situations.
  • Assists with interview of prospective applicants, selection of qualified candidates, and training of new employees.
  • Supervises staff by organizing, delegating assignments, reviewing work, and evaluating performance with follow-through of performance issues with Manager of Practice Operations.  Assists with other tasks needed to run the office such as scheduling and timekeeping.
  • Understands and uses principles of customer service.
  • Demonstrates compliance with Christiana Care Health Services center and departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance and dress code
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices;  reports to manager of Practice Operations, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • A graduate of a state approved or National League of Nursing accredited training program
  • Current unrestricted Delaware RN License
  • 3 years of related clinical experience in acute, ambulatory, or emergency room preferred.
  • Basic PC and keyboarding skill required
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Special Requirements

  • Current license by State of Delaware
  • BCLS certification
