As the Director of IVAS Pharmacy Operations, you will be responsible for the system level quality assurance programming of the health system's multi-location (Wilmington, Union, and Christiana) intravenous admixture services (IVAS). This includes creation of system level policies that enable us to comply with new 797/800/795 regulations for CMS, the Joint Commission, and the Delaware Board of Pharmacy. This position is also responsible for overseeing ongoing caregiver competencies, Simplifi 797 compliance with daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, semiannual certification of cleanroom suites, onboarding education, media fill testing and coordinating monthly terminal cleaning. This person will provide subject matter expertise to hospital operations directors for all things pertaining to intravenous admixture services.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure continual system level quality assurance supervision of all intravenous admixture locations to ensure compliance with USP 797/800/795 laws and regulations governing pharmacy practices
  • Initiate and implement quality assurance programming that enables ongoing compliance at each hospital location with rapid recognition of deviation from system level required standard practices
  • Develop and maintain a reporting program that aligns production volumes with utilization and identified opportunities to reduce wasted product
  • Evaluate strategic information/technology solutions (IV robotics, dose preparation software, etc.) that impact the dispensing and/or administration processes in the IV admixture space for all hospital locations to promote safe practices
  • Oversee a comprehensive training program for the onboarding of all caregivers working in intravenous admixture services and regularly collaborates with hospital operations directors to ensure compliance
  • Plan new programs, renovations, and services for each hospital location to ensure financial sustainability and progressive care management
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with vendors as they pertain to IV Admixture Services (503B vendors, GPO, drug representative, etc.)
  • Oversee initial and subsequent vetting of 503B vendors for compliance CMG regulatory standards
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures for all USP 797/800/795 regulations to ensure that we maintain compliance for CMS, the Joint Commission, and the Delaware Board of Pharmacy
  • Oversee the recertification of all clean room environments within the health system, helps create mitigation strategies for deviations in regulatory standards for all clean room environments

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Health Care Delivery Science or related field preferred
  • Post-graduate residency training preferred
  • Board Certification in Sterile Products preferred
  • Current Delaware pharmacist licensure or license eligible (licensure attained prior to start date) required
  • At least five years of hospital pharmacy experience with at least three years experience in a supervisory/managerial role
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
