The Patient Safety and Accreditation Department is Hiring! We are searching for a Director, Patient Safety, Accreditation & Quality to join our team.

In this role, the Director is responsible for facilitating the development, management and implementation of Union Hospital's initiatives and programs in quality, performance improvement, infection prevention and specialty programs in support of the hospital's goals and mission. Responsible for leading survey readiness programs within Union Hospital to support the organization's mission and values. This role plans, organizes and leads survey and regulatory compliance with The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Commission on Cancer, Urgent Care and Laboratory accreditation standards as well as all regulatory investigations, announced or unannounced. The Director works to improve processes and programs related to accreditation preparation, annual QA/PI plans as well as ensuring sustained compliance with submitted plans of correction. The Director reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer while working in close collaboration with Nursing, Medical Staff and other disciplines as part of an organizational team to provide focus and education on Regulatory, Quality, Performance Improvement, and Patient Safety issues.

The Director of Accreditation, Patient Safety, and Quality will work closely with hospital leadership on planning, implementing, and/or evaluating the implementation of systems that: create a culture of safety; proactively identify risk; encourage adverse event reporting and detailed analysis of safety events and near misses; facilitate leadership, clinician and staff learning. This role is responsible for oversight of patient safety councils, to include the hospital as well as ambulatory sites. The Director is responsible for the development of strategies to assure the organization continues to proactively address safety and quality concerns to meet the organization's vision.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare or business related field required

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership/management responsibilities and relevant experiences as defined in the above.

  • Minimum of 5 years hospital or healthcare industry experience.

  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory standards related to QAPI, IP, grievances and peer review required.

  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery organizational structure and clinical care required.

  • Organizational and time management skills required.

  • Project management experience required.

  • High level proficiency with data management and analysis required; experience in quality and PI preferred.

  • Education, understanding of, and/or experience in one or more of the following are strongly preferred: IT, PI, utilization management/coding, team facilitation, staff education, RCA/FMEA, peer review design, risk management, grievance resolution, patient safety, human factors, regulatory requirements, and accreditation

Licenses/certifications:

  • Current State RN licensure

  • Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP).
