Primary Function:

We are currently seeking a Health Information Management Supervisor to supervise and coordinate the daily chart completion requirements and activities for both the Delaware and Cecil County campuses. Assesses medical record documentation to verify compliance with regulatory requirements. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct the Chart Management staff for both the DE and Cecil campuses by organizing and monitoring workflow, delegating assignments, reviewing and evaluating work performance and recommending personnel action.

  • Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of each process within areas of responsibility. 

  • Conducts medical record reviews to validate inpatient and outpatient surgery documentation compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards. 

  • Coordinates provider hands-on medical record review process and produces detailed outcomes report.

  • Works with departments throughout the organization to improve documentation compliance and trouble shoots root cause of documentation issues, makes recommendations for documentation improvement and drives organization to implement improvement opportunities.

  • Monitor physician chart deficiency processes. 

  • Verify physician delinquencies are allocated accurately and within established timelines for each record type. 

  • Supervise generation of the appropriate delinquency notifications to the impacted provider as well as the provider's leadership. 

  • Completes timekeeping activities and updates attendance records regularly for staff. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in HIM or related field.

  • RHIA or RHIT required (RHIA/RHIT Eligible will be considered).

  • Minimum of one year experience in an HIM department preferably in a leadership capacity.
