PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Identify management requirements and operating problems and define alternatives and the recommended solution in terms of management information needs. The IT Business Process Analyst uses current system and computer technology, and designs, installs and insures continuing operation of systems in all functional areas of CCHS. Acts as an internal consultant to management in disciplines and techniques such as patient management, patient accounting, payroll, ancillary and physicians systems and many other areas. Will also apply confirmed communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help the business make good technology decisions. Successfully completes straight-forward tasks and smaller, well-scoped challenges independently; and identifies appropriate actions and guidelines that have been provided to address a challenge.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Applies business knowledge to identify areas of systems improvement opportunity in order to submit proposals for studies that lead to systems improvements when implemented

  • Selects the appropriate business analysis approach and obtain feedback and agreement on the selection from others in order to plan and pre-determine limits of systems

  • Conducts and participates in projects/assignments, applying systems analysis and business process methods and techniques in order to identify where and how cost and time-effective improvements can be made or, as necessitated by internal or external regulations

  • Documents and present conclusions, proposed solution and associated costs in order to gain user approval to proceed

  • Conducts walk-through meetings with business, IT analyst and vendors, by developing program specifications, process models, and diagrams in sufficient detail to minimize questions while fully applying technical support from DBAs, Systems Programmers, and Senior Programmer/Analyst

  • Maintains effective user relationships in order to provide a climate receptive to systems and process improvement, and to enhance understanding of the user's business concerns

  • Participates on user project teams, audit installed system for conformance to objectives and make applicable changes, conduct additional training, and clarify procedures to assure full user satisfaction

  • Provides technical work direction to assigned personnel in order to insure timely and accurate project completion. Assist the Manager in planning for and handling management contacts in business areas

  • Provides support to assigned systems or general services. Ensure proper on-call support when applicable

  • Develops an effective change control process for requirements and designs

  • Communicates the appropriate level of detail so the stakeholders can understand the information

  • Analyzes and uses a complete view of people, processes and technology to understand the enterprise

  • Conducts interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods

  • Meets with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals.

  • Research, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further using these processes.

  • Communicates process changes, enhancements, and modifications - verbally or through written documentation - to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood.

  • Liaises with various business groups in the org

  • anization to facilitate implementation of new or improved business processes.

  • Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; implement and redefine as necessary.

  • Coordinates and performs in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new processes, and other post-implementation support.

  • Charts existing business processes in order to define current business activities for the development of procedures and models.

  • Generates and compiles, proactively, reports based on their findings, complete with recommended improvements to - or new requirements for - business processes and operational procedures

  • Prepares, leads, and handles stakeholder work sessions

  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 2-3 years business analysis experience.

  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment preferred.

  • Experience in project management
