The Application Analyst is responsible for software implementations, upgrades, configuration, and support of one or more computer applications. This includes coordinating all aspects of sustaining and deploying applications in our technical environment. For large systems the responsibilities of the Application Analyst may be limited to a particular set of features/functions. Emphasis for this position will be on medium to complex applications.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain and Support Existing Computer Applications
Proactively monitor customer satisfaction with applications to ensure they continue to meet their needs.
Communicate system changes and issues.
Work with the customer to identify, prioritize, and schedule enhancements and problem resolution.
Log, monitor, document and resolve application software problems either directly or with the assistance of others (e.g., Infrastructure staff, other application staff, the vendor, etc.)
Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze root cause trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems.
Escalate as appropriate, application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders.
Monitor, maintain, and where appropriate, enhance performance of software applications.
Ensure effective first-level support of applications through effective Customer Service Center (CSC) turnover documentation.
Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, etc.
Establishes operational standards and processes for the application which ensure reliable system operation and output with minimal manual intervention.
Monitor vendor software releases, and test and implement, upgrade or maintenance patches to ensure current version is supportable.
Liaison with IT infra-structure regarding hardware, operating system, interface and network requirements to ensure system reliability, performance and recoverability.
Fully document backup and recovery processes and test these to ensure reliability as the system setups change.
Assess and implement requests for enhancements utilizing vendor supplied application tools and/or standard desktop tools supported by Christiana Care.
Has knowledge of the system data model and assists users with reporting and other data management needs.
Coordinate with other application staff on appropriate and effective data sharing including interfacing.
Liaison with vendor to ensure compliance with software contract and assessing software changes.
Participate in the Implementation of New Computer Applications
Develop appropriate workplans for implementation of new applications. This includes all tasks necessary to successfully implement software applications into our environment including infrastructure, applications, interfaces and coordination with customers and/or Systems Analyst.
Coordinate with IT infrastructure groups to ensure application implementations are executed according to plan.
Ensure that appropriate change control mechanisms are used as new projects are implemented.
Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported by the organization.
Assist in the assessing of new applications for fit into our technical environment balancing customer need with technical feasibility. Use this knowledge to ensure the impacts of new applications on existing are addressed.
Configure software to meet customer requirements utilizing vendor supplied application tools and/or standard desktop tools supported by Christiana Care.
Develop backup strategies for applications and tests their viability. Also develops and implements applications in a way that ensures we can recover from disasters.
With the help of IT infrastructure staff, develop appropriate tests environments so future releases of software can be successfully implemented with appropriate change control.
Manage healthy vendor relationships that ensure implementations and problems associated with implementation are resolved.
Coordinate and plan all levels of testing including unit testing, integrated testing, user acceptance testing, stress testing and disaster recovery testing.
Plan and implement data conversions and other go-live steps as required.
Liaison with customer area as required to coordinate, and support, training.
Ensure changes are implemented using approved changed management procedures.
Create and maintain documentation for application and CSC support.
Assess User Department Computer Applications and Solutions
Provide technical application guidance as new software solutions are assessed and implemented in our technical environment. This effort is closely coordinated with IT Infrastructure staff.
Assess various software vendors for best fit into our technical environment as part of the overall software evaluation process (this includes applications that run internally or from external sites).
Assess customer needs and guide them on how to pursue new initiatives.
Under guidance of leadership, ensure sufficient backup for their responsibilities is established and training is provided.
Take responsibility to lead others to pursue and solve difficult problems. This includes leading other application analyst, specialty groups, vendors and customers This leadership is provided for simple to medium complexity applications.
Provide technical application project leadership for simple to medium complexity applications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science or Business Administration, or experience consistent with the Application Analyst job responsibilities.
Three to four years of experience in Information Technology.
