*Available for Management on-call duties

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, management and work direction for skilled trade teams. 
  • Develop, implement and monitor safety programs associated with the team's responsibilities including individual safety and providing safe facilities. 
  • Motivate and guide the team towards achieving developed and established goals. 
  • Monitor and evaluate individual and team performance. 
  • Provide appropriate training to ensure team competency.
  • Provide appropriate training for team member's individual development.
  • Enforce regulatory requirements and departmental and organizational policies.
  • Monitor and adjust team's responsibilities to meet regulatory requirements and the business needs of the organization.
  • Schedule individual assignments and approve personal time off for team members.
  • Provide and administer positive coaching and disciplinary action as needed per policy.
  • Maintain quality services by implementing and enforcing standards in conjunction with continuous performance and process improvements.
  • Maintain operating budgets and selected capital projects within established financial and scheduled time goals.
  • Establishes goals with a plan of action for accomplishment, including clearly stated desired results in conjunction with direct leadership.
  • Ensures that proper communications are maintained with staff through staff meetings, other oral communications and written communications.
  • Takes a positive approach to all aspects of managing to create and maintain a safe, productive and quality orientated work environment.
  • Develops and applies innovative approaches to managerial problem solving, staff engagement and develops department goals.
  • Ensures employee relation matters are conducted in a fair, even handed manner consistent with Christiana Care's policies.
  • Other work as directed.


Strong aptitude towards safety and safe practices

5 years' work experience in a maintenance or trade related field

High School graduate or equivalent

Associates or bachelor's degree preferred, an equivalent combination of education and experience may possibly be substituted. 

Positive attitude

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints

Must have working knowledge of maintenance trades, equipment and materials

Must be adaptable to the changing needs of our organization

Must have good computer skills

Supervisory or other leadership experience a plus
