The Cawley Center for Translational Cancer Research (CCTCR) at ChristianaCare's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute links our clinicians, scientists and collaborators such as the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia to promote research aimed at improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment. Our end goal is to accelerate our research findings into impactful clinical care plans. Successful translation of these discoveries requires creative and enduring relationships with industry, start-ups, and the life sciences community.

To help us with a rapidly growing program, the CCTCR has an immediate opening for a Manager of Business Development. The individual hired to this position will be responsible for generating new licensing and revenue streams, sponsored research and start-up companies, playing a pivotal role driving the translation and commercialization of CC's research discoveries. They will lead strategy around invention capture, intellectual property protection, asset monetization, negotiate agreements with industry and other key stakeholders of the life sciences community, Identify projects of commercial interest, facilitate the establishment of research collaborations with industry. They will negotiate licenses for intellectual property with established and startup companies and conceptualize and coordinate the strategic application of resources to achieve these targets, including the creation of innovative business arrangements and collaborations.

The successful candidate will possess excellent written (to include technical) and verbal communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. In addition, you should have a critical understanding of basic financial tools like Profit & Loss Statements.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Business, Business Administration or related field required. Masters preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • 3-5 years' experience with strategy, business development, management consulting and project management related to biomedical research.

  • Growing record of accomplishments in research and development and/or technical marketing
