Christiana Care, Psychosocial Oncology at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute is looking for an Outpatient Medical Assistant.

ChristianaCare Psychosocial Oncology is looking for a dedicated, caring, and compassionate Medical Assistant to work at the Helen F. Graham Center. Delaware is home to one of the most advanced cancer centers in the country. ChristianaCare's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute was one of the first cancer centers in the nation selected for the National Cancer Institute Community Centers Program, which helped to shape the way cancer care is delivered across the country. We provide a vast array of cancer outpatient services under one roof, making care more convenient, efficient and effective. Come join our team of twelve Physicians, one Access Coordinator, three Genetic Assistants, and three Administrative Assistants.

Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time, 40 hour a week exempt position
  • Hours for the position are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
  • No weekends or holidays.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Psychosocial Oncology clinical team and woks collaboratively within Behavioral Health and Cancer Service lines in support of an integrated model of health care
  • Maintains a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience for all patients.
  • Our Caregivers specialize in working with oncology patients, and providing exceptional, compassionate care.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to coordinate and support mental health care for people impacted by cancer.
  • Maintains calm, patient, professional demeanor, and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Assists with crisis protocols and appropriately seeks support from supervisors, clinicians, and public safety as needed.
  • Rooms patients to include taking and recording patient vitals, recording medical and medication history and assigned assessments
  • Performs point of care testing, injections, medication administration per unit needs
  • Assist clinician with examinations/procedures
  • Prepares exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
  • Handles prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills based on unit needs

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant, is preferred but not required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Qualification Requirements:

  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and prioritize work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and foster professional relationships in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred but not required.
