Christiana Care is looking for a full time Medical Assistant to join their growing team in Rehoboth Beach, DE!

This is a unique role where you would be doing practice visits and as well as going out into the community and doing home visits.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for assisting providers in the examination and treatment of patients. To deliver quality patient care and to perform other clinical and clerical duties within the practice.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Rooms patients to include taking and recording patient vitals
  • Supports and participate in telehealth (video) visits
  • Performs point of care testing, injections, and EKGs
  • Assist providers with examinations/procedures
  • Prepares exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
  • Completes necessary patient-specific paperwork and screenings
  • Ensures EMR is up to date with all pertinent test results in preparation for next visit
  • Handles patient call backs relaying information per the direction of provider
  • As per state guidelines, performs sterilization of medical equipment
  • Handles prior authorizations, referrals, and medical refills
  • Schedules tests, procedures and surgeries.
  • Performs quality control on all POCT (point of care testing) and equipment
  • Provides documentation assistance for providers during examinations and procedures
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program or current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
  • 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant, preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge to take and record vital signs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of managed care insurance
  • Knowledge of current ICD and CPT coding requirements
  • Knowledge of referral and authorization process
  • Knowledge of computer software and telehealth (video) visits
  • Ability to assist providers with examinations and procedures
  • Ability to administer immunizations to all age groups
  • Ability to organize and complete various tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to apply good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to act independently within the established procedures and protocols
  • Ability to maintain employee and patient confidentiality

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel between practices and patient homes, as needed
