ChristianaCare is looking for a NP/PA to join our team in the Surgical Oncology practice. The selected candidate will assist the surgeons in providing patient care, through utilization of approved protocols and procedures, and discussions with the surgeons. This is a Monday-Friday position with weekend and on-call as needed. The NP/PA will cover the majority of the days at our outpatient practice with rotation covering inpatient as well. No OR coverage is needed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assess health status of the patients through complete physical examination and medical history
• Evaluate, diagnose, manage and treat surgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings within the scope of their education, training and credentialing, and within established protocols, guidelines and procedures
• Assist with preop and postop management of patients
• Assist with the peer-to-peer reviews required by insurance companies for authorizations of procedures or tests
• Utilize teaching/learning principles coupled with an expert clinical knowledge to promote and provide education to the staff, patient / family, and community
• Participate in continuing education programs, in interdisciplinary conferences for the development of patient care
• Act as liaison for patients, families, and health professionals
• Collaborate with the Office Manager of the Practice regarding administrative issues that require intervention and/or resolution
• Transcribe orders to be co-signed by the supervising physician in 24 hours
• Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information, to identify patient needs and to provide care needed
• Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; report to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors
• Perform other related duties as required

 REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Advanced Practice Nursing Master's program 

BCLS and ACLS certification required

License or license eligible in the state of Delaware

Experience as a provider preferred
