ChristianaCare is currently hiring for an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the surgical services team at our main campus in Newark, DE. The position involves four 10 hour day shifts depending on staffing needs of the department.   Night and weekend coverage is required a few shifts per year.

DUTIES:

The PA or NP will work closely with surgical residents and attending physicians.  Care includes performing consultations in the Emergency Department as well as on the floors, hospital admissions and discharges, pre and post-operative care, obtaining pre-operative consents, first assistant duties in the operating room and bedside surgical procedures.  The PA or NP will also attend Department of Surgery Educational lectures weekly.

REQUIREMENTS:

Physician Assistant candidates must be a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program and be certified or eligible for certification by the NCCPA. 

Acute Care NP certification required and must be a graduate from an accredited NP program.

Must be licensed or be licensing eligible in Delaware.

Surgical management experience preferred. 

One year of operating room experience required.
