Christiana Hospital is a 906 bed modern facility in Newark, Delaware with one of the busiest Emergency Departments on the East Coast. Christiana Hospital includes Delaware's only Level I trauma center and is prepared to handle the most extreme medical emergencies. We are hiring a Nurse Manager to lead our Surgical Critical Care Complex and Transitional Surgical Unit.

We seek a Nurse Manager for our SCCC & TSU to provide 24 hour accountability and responsibility for excellence in the clinical and operation of nursing and the delivery of patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages Nursing Practice and care delivery in Surgical Critical Care Complex and Transitional Surgical Unit.

Assures compliance with regulatory and professional standards. Identifies priorities of leadership and management responsibilities and demonstrates the ability to delegate.

Enables a relationship-based care approach to care delivery on assigned unit.

Promotes the autonomy of the nursing staff, encouraging independent decision making and problem solving. Supports and facilities a culture of nursing professional governance.

Responsible for staffing, and scheduling, allocating paid time off to meet staffing needs for the team. Maintains position control in a cost-effective manner.

Interviews and hires potential employees, assuring the technical and professional development of staff. Coaches, disciplines and evaluates staff.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of the budget..


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Completed BSN and Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree and Master's of Science in Nursing
  • Professional Certificate in a related nursing specialty required. Nurse Executive Certification preferred.
