Nursing Professional Development Manager - iLead
The Nursing Professional Development Manager provides leadership and strategic direction for caregiver development and education programs. Work includes developing staff in alignment with the mission, vision, goals, standardized tools, and best practices established by the Nursing Professional Development Department. This position manages our Nursing Professional Development Specialists (NPDS) who work imbedded within our units. Duties & Responsibilities:
Manages nursing professional development personnel and programs.
Manages relationships through promotion of effective team dynamics, a healthy work environment, respect for diversity, facilitation of professional development and situation management.
Formulates and effectively executes innovative leadership strategies to influence behaviors and promote excellence.
Interviews and hires potential employees, assuring the technical and professional development of staff.
Coaches, disciplines, and evaluates staff according to ChristianaCare policy. Maintains accurate employee files, including licensure of professional staff.
Plans, holds, and documents team meetings, communicating all appropriate information.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the area budget in collaboration with the Director/Vice President of NPD.
Provides oversight for ongoing program development, implementation and evaluation related to nursing professional development.
Contributes to a coordinated department structure including request intake, delivery of services, maintenance of internal website information, reporting of services delivered and department meetings.
Coordinates educational activities across the health system in alignment with educational needs of caregivers, annual operating goals and/or service line initiatives, regulatory requirements and competency standards.
Engages with inter-professional teams to provide educational support for performance improvement efforts.
Contributes to the forward movement of nursing professional practice through presentations, publications, participation in professional organizations, research, and translation of evidence into practice.
Maximizes organizational vitality through knowledge of health care finances, outcome tracking, efficient program delivery, budget planning and nursing excellence.
