ChrisitanaCare is seeking a full-time outpatient Behavioral Health Therapist/Gender Wellness Therapist for the Gender Wellness Program in Newark, DE.

The Gender Wellness Program provides gender-affirming behavioral health services to transgender and gender-diverse individuals who are exploring their gender identity or need support around their social or medical transition. Emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, and other conditions are treated in conjunction with gender dysphoria/gender identity concerns.

The program follows the guidelines of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and provides a safe and affirming space for the individual.

People of transgender experience or cisgender individuals connected to the transgender community are encouraged to apply.

This is a hybrid role with flexible start/end times!

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Conduct psychotherapy for the age of 16+ and adult transgender/gender diverse individuals (individual, family, group, multi-family groups.
  • Complete documentation requirements in a timely manner.
  • Complete gender - affirming hormone evaluations when requested by providers within the system (i.e. endocrinology)
  • Assist patients in resourcing gender - affirming surgical providers based on need and insurance coverage.
  • Complete gender - affirming surgical support letters for surgeons and insurance companies.  Interface with surgeons and caregivers as needed for patients seeking gender related surgeries.
  • Complete I.D. documentation for patients (birth certificate, passport, state I.D, social security) when requested
  • Ongoing coordination of care with medical providers and psychiatric providers inside and outside the ChristianaCare system
  • Provide education to the system on cultural competence/humility when working with gender diverse individuals when requested
  • Attend gender diversity related committees and working groups within the system
  • Provide consultation for ChristianaCare providers when asked
  • Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master of Social Work degree required.
  • Minimum of one year working in an outpatient setting required.
  • Individuals with experience working with gender diverse individuals or those who have a connection to the gender diverse community preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • DE LCSW license or ability to receive reciprocity for clinical license from another state is required or DE LMSW and intention to obtain LCSW within one year of hire.
