Seeking a highly motivated, upbeat Registered Nurse to join the Christiana PACU Leadership Team as the Perioperative Practice Coordinator.
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Perioperative Service Coordinator primarily functions as a front line Clinical Supervisor responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating the specialty service(s) activities under their charge; coordinates patient care considering acuity and age specific needs of the patient population we serve; and communicates pertinent information to the entire surgical team to ensure efficient patient care and quality outcomes.
Assists the Nurse Manager in assuming responsibility and accountability with supervision of licensed and unlicensed personnel when assigned to their specialty service(s). Assures cost effective utilization of resources: staff, rooms, instrumentation, supplies, and equipment. Coordinates daily staffing assignments with other members of the PSC team; staffs the unit according to patient acuity on current and oncoming shift; re-assigns staff as needed. Facilitates timely first cases starts; and turnaround times. Assists in the development and monitoring of department quality improvement initiatives. Assists with the development of proficiency assessment tools; and performs Staff Proficiency Assessments to ensure that staff demonstrate the skills needed to meet the specialty patient population needs; and the needs of the specialty care providers. Identifies system issues to facilitate improvements in patient care and unit operations. Assists with development of performance improvement opportunities and conducts audits. Mentors and coaches staff to foster professional development; and improve clinical and technical skills. Demonstrates CCHS core values and behaviors. Performs other related duties as the need arises.
Commitment to obtaining within three years of date of hire can be considered with relevant experience.
At least Three years' experience in related nursing field. Perioperative experience required.
Recent experience in a leadership role is preferred.
Certification in area of expertise. (CAPA or CPAN preferred) - must get within 6 months of hire.
