In this position, you will support IVAS/OR/HFGCC Pharmacy Services by maintaining compliance with USP 797/800. The primary functions of this position will be to provide oversight of the onboarding and training of new IV staff members, the management of staff competencies, and the maintenance of environmental processes within the sterile compounding areas. The Quality Control Technician will also assist in the development and maintenance of the Simplifi 797 database to ensure that the health system remains in compliance with regulatory bodies to include the board of pharmacy, CMS, and the Joint Commission.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing education and staff development exercises for all IV trained Pharmacy personnel
  • Work with the Supervisor of IV Services to continually update training materials and competency assessment tools for staff members
  • Support oversight of competencies of staff
  • Responsible for education and competency support for all equipment used within the sterile compounding areas
  • Support staff education regarding IV clean room cleaning processes, cleaning agents, and documentation of cleaning tasks in Simplifi 797
  • Maintain records in reference to staff competencies within the Simplifi 797 program
  • Perform environmental monitoring tasks in compliance with USP 797/800
  • Review media fill, fingertip testing, and surfaces samples for notation of growth; and provides appropriate documentation of final reports within the Simplifi 797 program

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in health related field
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required
  • At least three years of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician
  • At least of three years of experience in sterile compounding preferred
  • Academic course work in research methods or equivalent training through work experience preferred
