ChristianaCare is recruiting for a Pharmacy Research Coordinator to work day shift. As the Pharmacy Research Coordinator, you will assist the pharmacist assigned to Investigational Drug Services research activities. Primary functions include initiation of study protocols, education, and training of pharmacy staff, monitoring study progress, routine communication/collaboration with the principal investigator or assigned research coordinator. You will also support IVAS/OR Pharmacy Services in efforts to promote USP 797/800 compliance. This includes managerial support of staff competency processes and environmental maintenance procedures within the sterile compounding areas. The Research Coordinator will also assist in the development and maintenance of the Simplifi 797 database to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Initiation, maintenance, and record control for investigational studies
  • Staff education for the various studies and serving as a resource for the staff
  • Is the contact for Investigational Drug Research Coordinators who require pharmacy support
  • Quarterly billing for pharmacy services and preparing a quarterly Investigational Drug activity report
  • Tracking of all enrolled patients in various investigational drug protocols; and cost avoidance/savings from patients enrolled in IDS studies
  • Serving as the primary pharmacy contact for site monitors and coordinators for inpatient study sponsors
  • Membership in the Research Coordinators group and attendance at monthly meetings to represent the pharmacy department in investigational drug processes
  • Implements and manages investigational drug information on the intranet and the storage procedure for closed trials
  • Provides support in oversight of initial and annual competencies of staff in regard to USP 797 & 800
  • Supports maintenance of records in reference to staff competencies within the Simplifi 797 system
  • Manages the inventory counts of all monoclonal antibodies that are under emergency use authorization (EUA)

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferred in health-related field
  • At least five years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital
  • At least three years of experience in sterile compounding preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required
  • Academic course work in research methods or equivalent training through work experience preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of USP 797 and 800 regulations, with experience in the processes involved with sterile compounding
