ChristianaCare is recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor who will perform assigned functions with an emphasis on being a role model, leader, and subject matter expert in all aspects of specialty pharmacy operations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties outlined in the Pharmacy Technician job description during call outs or when the department is short staffed
  • Recommend opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with Information Technology (IT) team members to ensure data compliance and integrity
  • Orient, train, and complete onboarding checklists for new employees
  • Maintain a current knowledge of all departmental safety procedures
  • Demonstrate a Culture of Responsibility during event investigations, conversations with personnel & proactive identification/resolution of risky behavior
  • Check call-out line daily & assist Pharmacists-In-Charge with ensuring appropriate Technician coverage, along with completing call-out forms and updating time-keeping systems and attendance tracking sheets
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives, management meetings, & Joint Commission readiness activities
  • Participate in the development and review/modification of policies and procedures
  • Manage vendor relationships for technology that is driving the outpatient pharmacy workflow
  • Oversee systems and operations workflow and collaborate with IT to ensure point of sale is functioning with expected performance standards. Follow-up with customer service representatives when workflow issues occur.
  • Lead user acceptance testing for application upgrades for the point of sale, shipping, and workflow software to ensure business continuity
  • Maintain, update and create fields within Enterprise Rx to ensure accurate information on medications being dispensed
  • Execute weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting assignments
  • Build and maintain reports within Enterprise Rx reporting portals
  • Coordinate with IT to ensure that the Caregiver Payroll Deduction file is accurate and delivered on time for the close of payroll to process for costs of medications sold out of ChristianaCare owned retail or mail order pharmacies
  • Work with the mail order team to ensure that the Endicia shipping software database is up to date with attributes for caregivers and their beneficiaries
  • Responsible for the performance management and evaluation of assigned Pharmacy Services caregivers
  • Participate in the selection and hiring of pharmacy caregivers & coordinate their orientation and training
  • Educate staff on departmental and organization policies & procedures

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in health care or business-related field preferred
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Previous supervisor experience preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required
