As the Phlebotomy Supervisor, you will supervise and monitors inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy services and staff to ensure accurate and timely performance of phlebotomy procedures.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates schedule for phlebotomists including daily work assignments to ensure quality services and established turnaround times. Includes assigning priorities for all collection requests and ensuring collection pending reports are completed prior to the end of each shift
Performs timekeeping and payroll duties for phlebotomy. Investigates payroll errors and makes corrections as needed.
Prepares and engages in quarterly check ins and annual performance reviews with phlebotomy staff
Ensures timely follow-up on performance issues, assuring compliance with policies and procedures
Prepares and discusses coaching and disciplinary actions for phlebotomy staff
Ensures that adequate supplies are available to phlebotomy. Orders supplies and/or delegates inventory duties to staff members.
Investigates and responds to event reports
Participates in the collection, interpretation, and monitoring of quality assurance data.
Identifies performance improvement opportunities and facilitates staff participation in collecting data/information.
Ensures that campus specific phlebotomy procedures are updated at least annually.
Acts as a resource for phlebotomy questions for staff and other health care providers
Directs and follows all established LIS downtime procedures
Performs all duties of a Phlebotomy Technician and Specialist
Responds to all pages, answering pages promptly
Performs all duties of a Lab Office Clerk and Receiving Clerk
Works cooperatively with laboratory manager, peers and other hospital staff maintaining a good rapport with other departments
Supports continuing education opportunities for staff
Assists phlebotomy instructors, ensuring comprehensive training on personnel is complete
