Christiana Care is looking to hire an ABGC or ACMG Board certified Geneticist to join our team as a Prenatal Genetic Counselor. They will provide genetic counseling for prenatal or preconception genetic counseling to high risk patients and family members. Clients are referred for AMA, abnormal serum screening, sonographic abnormalities, family history of genetic syndromes and birth defects, and pregnancy exposures.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Human Genetics/ Genetic Counseling.

  • ABGC or ACMG Board certification is required at hire or the individual must be ABGC board eligible and have active candidate status. 

  • In addition, the candidate must obtain a Delaware Genetic Counselor license.  

  • Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling is required for continued employment as this is a necessary requirement for licensure. One year experience desired, but not required. 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas for additional education for physicians, healthcare providers and community.

  • Maintain the prenatal risk database and create pedigrees using the progeny software.

  • Provide coverage for adult, cancer and cardiovascular genetics as needed.

  • Work with the appropriate physician or health care professionals in supporting consultation requests from persons or families with a history of birth defects, genetic disorders, or at risk for aneuploidy.

  • Provide genetic consultation when needed for coverage for certain cancers, cardiovascular disease, adult-onset genetic conditions or adults with genetic conditions.

  • Obtain and interpret information from multiple sources to identify counseling needs and provide the care needed.

  • Represent Christiana Care Health System in State and regional activities regarding genetic services.
