Registered Nurse - Union Hospital Emergency Department

The emergency departments at ChristianaCare treat a combined total of more than 225,000 patients each year, making our doctors, nurses and support staff among the most experienced emergency medical professionals in the region. Our Union Hospital Emergency Department is a 27 bed ED, located in Cecil County, Elkton, Maryland.

We are currently hiring for a RN to work 24 hours per week on the Evening/Midnight shift for our Emergency Department.

The Union Hospital Emergency Department is seeking nurses who thrive in a fast-paced environment with a thirst for knowledge to work in a community based Emergency Department. The successful candidate will be comfortable caring for all ages and populations and will be flexible with a team oriented approach to patient care. Our Registered Nurses work closely with providers to provide excellent quality of care and patient safety.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Whenever possible, the family or those significant to the family are considered as part of the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation efforts of the Registered Nurse.

When care is not provided directly by the Registered Nurse, the RN assigns/directs care to other qualified members of the health care team.

The RN coordinates care between other professional disciplines as needed.

This job requires employee to demonstrate initial and annual competencies in order to remain in the position.

Administers, monitors, and documents medications and treatments within the scope of practice.

Monitors and reports expected and adverse reactions to treatments, procedures and medications.

Requirement:

  • Current RN license in the state of Maryland or compact state.
  • Associates Nursing Degree, BSN preferred.
  • Two years' experience required. Acute Care preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS and PALS preferred - To be obtained within 1 year of service.
  • CEN preferred.

Hours: This is a mid-shift12-hour shift position for the hours of 7 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

The successful candidate may be eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus to be paid over a period of 12 months.
