ChristianaCare Rehabilitation Department is recruiting for a Rehabilitation Aide to work full time. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 to 4:30. Every fourth Sunday and holidays as required.

As the Rehabilitation Aide, you will provide clinical and administrative support services in the Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy, and Recreational Therapy units within the Rehabilitation Services department.   

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the therapists in treatment preparation for group or individual sessions.  Sessions include, but are not limited to, hot and cold packs, routine follow-up exercises, set-up of therapeutic modality interventions, ambulation, and functional training.
  • Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly fashion, safe for patient care.  Clean and prepare equipment for patient use.
  • Maintain inventory of patient supplies and equipment including wheelchairs and their adaptations (where applicable).
  • Assist therapists in medical equipment/ supply ordering.
  • Monitor and help to maintain efficient patient flow within the department; assisting with scheduling and patient transport within the department.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and to provide the care needed.
  • Submit work orders as needed to clinical engineering and facilities.
  • Assist clerical staff with clerical duties including, but not limited to, scheduling, faxing, filing, answering phones, and scanning.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School graduate or equivalent. 
  • Experience in working with adult physical disabilities preferred
  • Knowledge of routine physical, occupational, and recreational procedures
  • Knowledge of correct cleaning and infection control procedures
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
