ChristianaCare is searching for a Revenue Integrity Chargemaster to be responsible for leading, coordinating, and implementing complete, correct, timely and compliant charge creation. The Chargemaster will also be responsible for reviewing and interpreting Managed Care contracts, and Government fee schedules and regulations to ensure appropriate charge creation.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

Coordinates all activities of the charge description master including but not limited to, charge creation, charge validation, charge analysis and pricing.

Reviews and assists with maintenance of chargemaster compliance reports.

Assists with other necessary projects to maintain the chargemaster file.

Manages daily work lists to resolve bill holds for charge-related issues assigned to the revenue integrity unit in the charge and discharge not billed (DNB) work lists. Conducts daily review of claims held in charge and discharged not final billed (DNFB) applications. Distributes these charge related issues to the proper department. Maintains the charge integrity contact list for distribution of charge-related issues to PFS, HIM, coding, clinic services, surgical services, and ancillary services.

Analyzes electronic data files. Coordinates findings with hospital departments to ensure missed charges are billed.

Assists with report findings from the assigned work list, erroneous or missing charge postings with follow-up analysis, and development and implementation of recommendations and actions plans to minimize late or missing charges.

Supports the remediation process within third-party vendor software issues to the extent they relate to charge capture and revenue integrity concerns.

Creates and maintains Excel files and submits quarterly reports to Clinical Department Director/Manager, Corporate Director of Revenue Cycle and Revenue Integrity Manager.

Assists in recommending action plans to reduce missed revenue opportunities. Compiles and coordinates rules with vendor to update the software used in compiling data files.

Audits revenue reports for charge accuracy and coordinating discrepancies.

Conducts monthly Charge Master Steering Committee Meetings

Conducts root-cause analyses with others to identify opportunities for error reduction.

Facilitates and manages the annual review and updates to the Charge Description Master and pricing file.

Builds strong relationships and facilitates productive communication between key stakeholders and Clinical departments. Collaborates with others to develop and implement action plans to resolve charge errors.

Researches regulatory requirements relevant to charges, monitors trends, and maintains knowledge of charge-related regulations and standards. Applies knowledge to ensure that charges are accurate, billed correctly, and supportable according to payer and regulatory requirements.

Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).

Develop and maintain tracking reports.

Articulate thoughts and ideas effectively both verbally and in writing.

Present information effectively in a variety of settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, direct reports, and superiors.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a relevant field of study.
  • Equivalent and relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of revenue cycle management and/or revenue integrity experience in a healthcare environment.
