The Risk Management Team is searching for an experienced Risk Manager to administer the Risk Management Program on a day-to-day basis, and analyze risk management data, report claims against Christiana Care to the claims' administrator; assist in the investigation of claims, and provide support to defense attorneys and the Liability Consultant for active claims and suits in litigation.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience engaging with stakeholders at all levels within the organization. In addition, you should possess knowledge of the law as it pertains to the professional and general liability areas; and have the ability to analyze facts and determine risk levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Directs the investigation of events, analyzes the actual and potential risk to the organization.
Identifies incidents that require reporting to the Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
Recommends corrective action to management as a result of review of events to prevent reoccurrence of similar situations.
Works with Patient Relations to offer solutions to resolve complaints that are perceived as potential liability claims.
Refers quality issues to the appropriate departments for resolution claims.
Transmits information on claims and potential claims to the claims administration and collects information as necessary to facilitate claims processing.
Works closely with defense attorneys for scheduling interviews and depositions and collecting information to answer interrogatories and other discovery requests.
Provides education to departments on risk management topics.
Accepts on-call responsibility as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in nursing or other health-related field required or minimum of three years' experience in healthcare risk management.
Special requirements:
CPHRM and/or ARM certification desirable, but not mandatory
