ChristianaCare is recruiting for a Senior Compensation Analyst. In this position, you will provide a full range of compensation consulting, analysis and program administration services; research, collect and analyze internal and external data for compensation decision making; implement and administers the annual compensation review process; influence clients to achieve compensation objectives; and serve as a subject matter expert regarding client compensation issues.


  • Serves as a consultant/subject matter expert to assigned internal client groups on compensation issues and ensures that compensation decisions are in alignment with the organization's compensation and total rewards philosophy and the business strategy. 
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of client business issues and priorities; effectively analyzes and diagnoses problems; provides clear advice and recommendations to help clients make sound business decisions. 
  • Advises and influences business and HR partners on compensation strategy, programs and issues.
  • Coordinates the annual compensation process, including one or more of the following tasks: assists in creating communication materials, prepares data for the compensation system, analyzes salary and bonus recommendations to assist managers with compensation decision making, ensures significant compensation differentiation, trains managers on the use of the compensation system and assists managers and other users with resolving systems issues, generates standard and ad hoc reports and coordinates with the Payroll department to process compensation actions
  • Participates in third-party compensation surveys to obtain current data for job evaluations to ensure the organization's competitiveness in the market place; compiles, analyzes and evaluates survey data to recommend range adjustments and individual job compensation ranges; matches survey jobs and prepares data for submission to survey consulting firms
  • Evaluates existing positions and newly created positions to determine placement in the appropriate salary grade based on competitive market data and organizational structure; conducts exemption testing for compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Performs various salary administration activities such as implementation of general base pay adjustments and calculation of hire rates, promotional increases and pay reductions.
  • Assists managers in developing and writing job descriptions from job questionnaires, interviews with position incumbents, observations of work and discussion with management or supervisory personnel.
  • Evaluates compensation actions and programs for compliance with the OFCCP affirmative action regulations and other Federal, State and local wage and hour or equal employment opportunity regulations.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of new compensation programs and systems.  Participates in special projects as assigned by the Director, Compensation.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Finance, or related field
  • At least five years of experience as a compensation analyst
  • Additional experience in another human resources discipline preferred
  • Masters Degree or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or progress toward CCP or Master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compensation theory and concepts including design, development and administration of compensation programs including job evaluation, performance management, salary surveys and Federal, State and local laws and regulations regarding compensation
  • Strong analysis/problem-solving abilities
  • Consulting skills
  • Business acumen - must understand how health care organizations or businesses work - how organizations develop strategy, utilize technology, serve customers/patients, succeed against competitors and generate revenue and earnings.
  • Knowledge of human resources principles and techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate job description information and appropriately classify positions
  • Ability to analyze survey data and make appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to cope with conflicting points of view
  • Ability to exercise judgement, tact, and diplomacy.
