Monitor and participate in routine manual work in cleaning and assist housekeeping staff.
Essential Job Responsibilities: - Responsibilities include performing routine cleaning of patient area (patient rooms, exam areas, etc;) as well as non-patient areas (offices, labs, restrooms, public areas). - Responsible for municipal/infectious waste/soiled linen removal and transportation. - May be required to perform laundry-related functions (soiled linen sorting, processing, folding, etc;) - Performs other duties as assigned by management. - Assists the department coordinator by monitoring the daily operations of the department and directing the hourly staff as necessary. - Ensure all Housekeeping and Laundry staff complies with company standards regarding dress and appearance. - Have a comprehensive knowledge of all areas of the Housekeeping Department. - Ensure that all team members are following appropriate safety procedures with regard to equipment and chemicals at all times and comply with Joint Commission regulations. - Ensure that all team members report for duty in a timely manner, and are issued with the relevant tools of the trade to carry out daily tasks. - Hand out all work assignments to each team member. Follow-up on tasks assigned to team members regarding job quality and efficiency. - Oversee training of new team members on assigned tasks, proper handling and use of chemicals and equipment as well as training on basic safety and standards. - Ensure that all operating inventories are accurate and timely ordering of supplies. - Prompt reporting of all repairs and maintenance, as well as followed-up on repair requests. - Liaise between staff /supervisors/ manager of the Housekeeping team. - This job requires employee to demonstrate initial and annual competencies to remain in the position.
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Work Schedule: Full Time - 3p-11:30p and every other weekend & rotating holida
Physical Requirements: - Continuous standing / walking. - Frequent carrying / lifting, bending / squatting, pushing/pulling. - Occasional climbing, fingering of spray bottles. - Minimum 50 lb. lifting requirement. Performance Requirements: - Ability to follow department cleaning procedures. - Ability to work with minimal supervision and produce consistent quality work. - Ability to adapt to change in work assignments as required by department needs. - Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with department staff and hospital customers (staff, patients, visitors) alike. - Must be professional at all times and strive to meet the department's customer satisfaction goals. - Knowledge of cleaning cart and supplies, washer and dryer, mop, broom, vacuum, cleaner, cleaning chemicals, typewriter. - Skills in training new staff members and the ability to delegate work assignments. - Should know emergency procedures. - Must be able to deal effectively and calmly with difficult people. - Must be able to work in a stressful environment with multiple priorities.
