Christiana Care, Supportive and Palliative Care Program is looking for a Senior Medical Assistant.

ChristianaCare Supportive and Palliative Care Program helps patients with serious illness identify and meet their health care goals by focusing on quality of life including control of symptoms and advanced care planning. The Supportive and Palliative Care Program serves patients in the clinic and is embedded in primary and specialty care practices, as well as providing house calls when patients have difficulty leaving their homes. The program also provides virtual support including video visits.

ChristianaCare's interdisciplinary palliative-care team provides comfort to patients with advanced chronic and serious illness, and to their families. You would be joining a team of eight physicians, eight advanced practice clinicians, three nurse navigators, three senior social workers, two medical assistants and one office assistant.
 

Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt Monday to Friday position.
  • Weekday hours are traditionally 8am to 5pm.

Education Requirements:

  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program or
  • Hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
  • 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant is required; 3 years' experience is preferred
     

Qualification Requirements:

  • To operate as a team leader and mentor of office staff in the practice to facilitate functions and duties.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and prioritize work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and foster professional relationships in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred but not required.
