We are looking for a part-time Senior Social Worker I to join the School-Based Health Center located in Appoquinimink High School.

School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) are a partnership between Christiana Care Health Services, a School District, and the Delaware Division of Public Health. The SBHC provides health care via a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a Nurse Practitioner (Advanced Practice Clinician), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health, and a Registered Nurse.

Each SBHC is led by a Program Manager, who oversees the day to day practice operations of the centers and collaborates with the School Administrations.  All members of the team work together to build a partnership within the school environment, and their primary players, to support and address all the needs of the children we serve. 

Work Hours:

32 hours/week during the school year, with six weeks off during the summer and a week off at Winter Break and a week off during Spring Break.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Provides psychological care (consisting of individual, group and family therapy interventions as well as Crisis Interventions) appropriate for the youth and young adult population.  This requires the ability to conduct assessments, obtain and interpret information, to identify age and culturally-specific patient needs, and to provide the care needed.

  • Functions in a consultation and liaison role for the Family and Community Medicine Department, the SBHCs and the individual Schools, meeting the needs of the overall Health System, the SBHCs and the students.   

  • Utilizes and scores various psychotherapeutic screeners using appropriate  evidenced-based clinical techniques (RAAPS, Columbia Suicide Screen, BDI-II, BAI, PHQ-9, etc, and CBT, DBT and Crisis Centered Therapy to name a few) to meet the needs of the youth and young adult population. 

  • Coordinates transition of care to community setting as necessary; maintains knowledge of resources including community providers and support organizations appropriate for the patient population served  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:           

  • Education: Masters in Social Work

  • Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

  • One to five years of experience providing direct therapeutic care
