We are seeking a part-time Service Assistant III who is responsible for the food service operation on the patient care areas. Serves therapeutically correct trays to patients, processes diet orders, collects patient menu selections, adjusts patient menus in accordance with patient's diet order and the diet reference manual, processes menu for tray line and demonstrates outstanding customer service.

This position consists of 10 hours shifts, with hours that vary between 7:30am-8:15pm, includes working every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Guaranteed 30 hours a week and benefits eligible.

Education and experience requirements:

  • High school graduation or its equivalent
  • Six months food service experience preferred
  • ServSafe certificate preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:

Knowledge of modified diets, calorie counts, and fluid restrictions

Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures

Ability to read and interpret diet order and menu selection

Ability to perform fundamental arithmetic computations

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Ability to exercise judgment and tact

Skill in interpersonal relations and customer satisfaction

Ability to demonstrate outstanding customer services and service recovery techniques

Ability to use the computer to obtain messages and meal/nourishment reports

Ability to use, and carry, iPad to collect patient menus

Ability to perform math calculations

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.

Physical demands:

Must pass physical examination: drug-free; able to hear, see, speak, and ambulate. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, handle, balance, and stoop as per Physical Demands Checklist. Pushing and pulling meal carts. Stooping, bending, and stretching when serving/retrieving meal trays and maintaining pantry area.

Working conditions:

Pantry area, nursing stations and patient care areas. Subject to exposure to infectious diseases and occasional equipment hazards. Exposure to chemicals and cleaning supplies.
