To transport patients to and from PACU. Provides equipment to support patient transport requirements. Maintain a clean and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Christiana Care. Ensure supplies are adequately stocked on the unit.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transports patients via stretcher, wheelchair, beds, and specialized vehicles as directed by peri anesthesia charge nurses and leaders
Maintains all patient and ancillary areas of the peri anesthesia areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
Maintains all carts/equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Carts/equipment is not to be left unattended. Remove ALL empty boxes from carts/closets/floors all areas.
Maintains a clean/orderly appearance in all Environmental Services closets.
Maintains supplies in bedside drawers, cabinets, and airway/isolation boxes in PACU.
Maintains paper and soap/hand gel supplies in all areas of the Christiana PACU.
Cleans/disinfects all precaution rooms in accordance with infection control policies/procedures.
Answers Environmental Services texts/calls when assigned in a timely manner. Turn phones on and open Vocera app immediately when clocked in for your shift and log into each app on the phone to be prepared to work.
Attends regularly scheduled in-service training programs given by the department.
Reports any maintenance problems or damages to Supervisor/Manager.
Maintains a helpful, productive attitude throughout the workday.
Picks up trash and soiled linen in PACU.
Cleans/disinfects empty rooms in a timely manner for the next patient by rounding the cores.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Two years of customer service.
High School Diploma preferred
Ability to access emails on computer, intermittent organizational communication.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of hospital/ED departmental locations.
Knowledge of basic body mechanics.
Knowledge of basic computer skills (email, web education, timekeeping application)
Ability to learn departmental policies/procedures.
Ability to read and write at a high school level.
Ability to use Smart Phones for job assignments.
Ability to maintain good public relations.
Ability to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene.
Ability to maintain a courteous, service oriented helpful attitude throughout the workday.
Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others.
Ability to transport patients on transport vehicles with equipment accessories effectively and safely.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding patients.
Ability to exercise judgment and professionalism.
Ability to perform CPR.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to communicate orally.
Continuous: standing or walking; pushing and/or pulling, repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, and/or elbows - often involving considerable weight.
Intermittent: bending &/or crouching; lifting and/or lowering - occasionally involving considerable weight. Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting as required.
Must pass back evaluation examination.
Potential exposure to infectious disease unless special precautions are followed.
Safety Glasses must be worn at all times.
Intermittent exposure of skin to dilute cleaning agents.
Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
