We are seeking a Full-time Service Assistant I to transport patients to appropriate hospital areas via stretcher, wheelchair, beds, and specialized vehicles to/from patient care and clinical service areas as directed by dispatchers or schedulers.
This position is day shift working 8:00AM-4:30PM, also includes working every other weekend and every other holiday.

Education and experience requirements:
  • Two years of customer service experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
  • Must be able to acquire BLS certification upon hire

Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:
Knowledge of hospital departmental locations.
Knowledge of basic body mechanics.
Knowledge of basic computer skills (email, web education, timekeeping application)
Ability to learn departmental policies/procedures.
Ability to read and write at a high school level.
Ability to use Smart Phones for job assignments.
Ability to work in a standing position and walk for long periods of time for the duration of the shift.
Ability to maintain good public relations.
Ability to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene.
Ability to maintain a courteous, service oriented helpful attitude throughout the workday.
Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others.
Ability to transport patients on transport vehicles with equipment accessories effectively and safely.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding patients.
Ability to exercise judgment and professionalism.
Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to communicate orally.
Scope, purpose, and frequency of contacts:
Frequent contact with patients, patient families, nursing staff, clinical service staff, and departmental personnel in responding to requests for patient transportation and equipment needs.
Special requirements:
Must pass back evaluation examination.

Physical demands:
Continuous: standing or walking; pushing and/or pulling - often involving considerable weight; repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, and/or elbows - often involving considerable weight.
Intermittent: bending &/or crouching; lifting and/or lowering - occasionally involving considerable weight.

Working conditions:
Frequent: Handwashing.
Intermittent exposure of skin to dilute cleaning agents.
Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
