Primary Function:

ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Sr. Clinical Informatics Analyst for the Population Health Informatics Department. This is a flexible hybrid position with a remote/office work schedule. This role serves as the clinical representative and advocate in the design, implementation, and adoption of technologies supporting success in population health, including, but not limited to, care management software, clinical quality registries and dashboards, digital patient engagement solutions, and remote patient monitoring. This individual will work closely with clinical and operational leaders in CareVio, Community Health, Medical Group, and Medicaid/Medicaid ACO. This individual will partner with multi-disciplinary teams and Information Technology department to drive workflow optimization and transformation of care delivery.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate global need, value, and impact, and appropriate solution set to meet the customer need. Route project-specific requests to appropriate individual or team.
  • Develop and provide efficient roll out and evaluation strategies in support of new projects/solutions.
  • Provide consultation in projects at implementation planning, execution, and evaluation phases.
  • Acts as a change agent and reinforces adoption strategies. Communicate regularly with end-user groups and key stakeholders.
  • Works with clinical leaders and end-user groups to craft effective workflows that support population health goals.
  • Conducts workflow observations to understand pre-implementation challenges and post-implementation adoption; supports documentation of current and future state workflow.
  • Identifies, collects, and reports baseline and post implementation metrics and data through observations, report requests and audits for assigned projects.
  • Identifies barriers to project success or end-user adoption and communicates effectively to application and project leaders to overcome barriers.
  • Recognizes 'work arounds' and other non-approved or inefficient practices, and acts as a change agent in the development and promotion of process redesign to improve system functionality and efficiency.
  • Applies clinical knowledge, systems and analysis skills, knowledge of current and future computer applications, and project planning and implementation skills to achieve defined objectives of sustained technology solutions and processes.
  • Maintain alignment of organizational focus, understand, and contribute to solutions (technology or process) for emerging issues; identify integration points across efforts.
  • Educates/mentors less experienced clinical informatics analysts.

Scope, Purpose, and Frequency of Contacts:

The Sr. Clinical Informatics Analyst may have frequent contact with clinicians from various practices, managers and clinical team members across the medical group, CareVio, Community Health, Clinical Informatics, Educators, Home Health, Information Technology staff, Pharmacy, Lab, Radiology and other ancillary departments.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS or masters-level degree in a licensed clinical discipline such as nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy or other applicable field; Master's degree in clinical discipline or relevant technology field preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in health care required with 3 years health care information systems preferred with emphasis on business and clinical analysis, IT implementation and/or process improvement.
  • Care management or community health experience is highly desired in this position and could be substituted for health care information systems experience.
  • Professional informatics certification required or must be in progress in the first year on the job.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Solid grasp of healthcare strategy, operations, technology and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with automated workflow redesign and process improvement associated with electronic medical record and/or patient care systems required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrable ability to work independently and to consistently exercise good judgment and initiative in a wide range of circumstances.
  • Proven success in the mentoring, coaching and instructing of others.
  • Proven success in facilitating and leading teams and projects.
  • Ability to travel to any area of the organization, both local and remote as needed-must provide own transportation.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and prepare moderately sophisticated written materials such as software documentation.
  • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, information management concepts and methods to non-technical users.
  • Analytical skills with ability to perform quantitative analysis of data.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
