The Gene Editing Institute at ChristianaCare is expanding, particularly in its projects focused on developing innovative gene editing therapies for solid tumors. We are searching for a talented and highly motivated researcher with a broad range of cell and molecular biology experience at the level of Staff Scientist II. With headquarters in Delaware, our location provides easy access to Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New York City - all within a short drive or train ride from Newark, DE.

The successful candidate is expected to carry out assigned projects mostly independently. Primary responsibilities are design and execution of various cell and molecular experiments and generation of technical reports. These experiments will support the development of next generation gene therapies in solid tumors by assessing genome editing outcomes and characterization of cell and animal model systems.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in genomics, biochemistry, biological sciences or related field with 1-4 years of work experience or Bachelor's with 3-7 years of work experience

Extensive experience with wide variety of standard and advanced molecular biology techniques

Experience in cell culture and assay development

Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities:

Perform genomic DNA/RNA purification from mammalian cells and tissues and preparation of cDNA

Design, optimize and execute PCR, qPCR and RT-qPCR

Perform Sanger sequencing and sequence analysis

Perform cell culture and maintenance of immortalized and primary mammalian cells

Perform transfection and/or transduction of mammalian cells

Design, optimize and execute plate-based assays including MTT/MTS, bioluminescence

Maintenance of a highly organized, technical and detailed laboratory notebook containing protocols used, results derived from each experiment or measurement

Requirements:

Must have genomic DNA/RNA isolation and cDNA preparation experience

Must have primer design, PCR, qPCR and RT-qPCR experience

Prefer Sanger sequencing/analysis, NGS library preparation and sequencing experience

Experience in mammalian cell culture with flow cytometry

Familiarity with CRISPR and genome editing

DNA analysis software (SnapGene, Benchling) and bioinformatics
