ChristianaCare's Gene Editing Institute has an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Staff Scientist II and utilize your experience and knowledge to work with a cross-functional team of cell and molecular biologists. 

The successful candidate is expected to carry out the assigned projects mostly independently. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and optimizing CRISPR technology for mammalian cell engineering in vivo and in vitro.

  • Independently maintain various types of adherent and suspension mammalian cell cultures in a sterile environment

  • Design and optimize CRISPR components including gRNAs and HDR templates

  • Perform transfection of mammalian cells utilizing nucleofection, lipofection and other methods

  • Evaluate the transfections using cell counting and viability assessment

  • Single-cell sorting by FACS and limiting dilutions

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in biological sciences or related field required with at least three to seven years of work experience or Masters degree with less experience in a biotech setting would be considered. 

  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture.  Experience in assay development for mammalian cells.  Knowledge in primary cell culture. 

  • Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Knowledge in CRISPR genome engineering.
