To provide patients with quality food and meal service through oversight of meal preparation, storage, menu processing, tray assembly, and delivery.


  • Oversees all aspects of food preparation for the patient tray line to ensure quality control.
  • Monitors food handling, preparation, recipe compliance, and product rotation, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Conducts routine food and recipe testing both from tray line and at point of service.
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide meal service appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Educates and reinforces compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Respond to Cipher Rounds through investigation and patient interviews.
  • Develops employees within section through orientation, on the job training, in-service classes, meetings, and the discipline process.
  • Participates in problem solving when operational difficulties arise.
  • Maintains effective communications via staff meetings.
  • Supports operation of the CBORD FMS system through entry of purchase orders, inventory adjustments, requisitions, and printing of reports.
  • Conducts routine meetings with support staff.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices;  reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


    Food and Nutrition Service staff, representatives of regulatory agencies and product vendors.


    Associate or Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management.

    Two year's management experience in healthcare environment or food service management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.


    Knowledge of safe food storage and handling practices.

    Knowledge of food and nutrition principles, including requirements of modified diets.

    Knowledge of therapeutic menu requirements for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

    Ability to utilize computer systems as it relates to job function.

    Skill in interpersonal relations and customer service.

    Skill in oral and written communication.

    Ability to utilize the positive discipline process to improve employee performance.
