To provide daily pick-up and delivery requirements of stock and non-stock supplies from the ChristianaCare Logistics Center (LC) and deliver to various locations throughout the ChristianaCare system and assist with warehouse duties including, but not limited to: picking product from shelves, driving material handling equipment (MHE), stocking shelves, and general warehouse cleaning.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transports all necessary materials to and from assigned locations with the ChristianaCare system.
Loads/unloads trucks with manual pallet jacks or automatic power jacks.
Performs operator preventive maintenance daily on assigned vehicles and cleans as necessary or assigned.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
Daily contact with public, both on the highway and in person, visitors, patients, doctors, nurses, clerks, family members and visitors of patients. Frequent contact with outside vendors, suppliers, etc.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Two years commercial driving experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of Federal, State of Delaware, and ChristianaCare Transportation rules and policies for operation of motor vehicles.
Knowledge of ChristianaCare Transportation standard operating procedures.
Knowledge of proper vehicle preventive maintenance procedures, DOT & ChristianaCare specific.
Ability to operate assigned ChristianaCare vehicles safely under varying conditions, including varying loads, traffic situations and weather conditions.
Ability to operate vehicles in tight spaces, operates hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other applicable transportation equipment.
Ability to present a "good public" image and consistently exhibit good personal demeanor when dealing with people.
Ability to take direction from managers, supervisors, and peers
Ability to lift greater than 35lbs and push/pull greater than 250lbs
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in interpersonal relations.
Valid State of Delaware Class B CDL driver's license and experience driving box trucks.
Frequently bending, heavy lifting, reaching, twisting, pulling, stooping, standing, and walking are constant throughout the normal daily activities. Physical and mental stress associated with driving and dealing with the public, staff, and the motoring public when in transit.
Inside/outside warehouse and dock areas within the ChristianaCare system. Driving a motor vehicle and exposure to specimens requiring transport to another location.
