Named one of "America's Best Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report, we have an excess of 1,100 beds between our two hospitals and are committed to providing the best patient care in the region.  We are currently seeking a 72 hour a pay (every 2 pay periods) Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nurse (WOCN).  This position will be based out of Christiana Hospital but will require support of the Wilmington Hospital occasionally as well.

The primary function of the WOCN is to serve as the clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems.  This full time flex, 72 hours a pay position, will require the successful candidate to work Monday through Friday 8-4:30; weekends are not generally required though may be a necessity occasionally based upon business need; no holidays on call or overnight work.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Serves as a consultant in the management of patients with wounds, fistulas, ostomies and/or incontinence.
  • Facilitates the learning process for patients/families with wounds ostomies and/or incontinence by influencing changes in behavior, knowledge, attitudes and/or acquisition of psychomotor skills.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to infant, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  BSN required, MSN preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of acute care nursing experience.
  • Leadership experience preferred.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Delaware or compact state.
  • Current CPR certification
  • WOCN certification preferred; or completion of certification required within two years of start.
